Following the circulation of a video featuring Springsteen’s remarks on social media, the President responded to the singer, prompting The American Federation of Musicians to issue a statement in support of both the singer and Taylor Swift.
Upholding the remarks he made at the concert, Springsteen ensured that the complete speech was made available on both YouTube and his official website. In the speech, he proclaimed, “In my home, the America I cherish, the America I have written about, which has served as a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is presently under the control of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.
This evening, we call upon all who believe in democracy and the finest aspects of our American experiment to join us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom resonate!”
Furthermore, Springsteen reflected on the notion that the “wealthiest individuals” derive satisfaction from the suffering of the American populace. “In my nation, they derive a sadistic enjoyment from the anguish they impose on devoted American laborers.
They are reversing significant civil rights laws that have contributed to a more equitable and diverse society. They are forsaking our esteemed allies and aligning themselves with tyrants against those who are fighting for their liberty.”
