Elon Musk could be losing more friends at the White House, and this time, the world’s richest man has got under the skin of far-right politician Marjorie Taylor Greene. Known as MTG, the U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district has also made a name for herself promoting conspiracy theories on everything from COVID-19 to QAnon, Pizzagate to 9/11.

The divisive Republican still maintains she’s a staunch Christian, but according to Elon Musk’s Grok, that might not be the case.

Initially launched in November 2023, Grok is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot that you’ll typically associate with X since Musk took over the platform. It’s known for drumming up controversy, like when it was seemingly ‘fixated’ on white genocide. Grok is billed as having a ‘sense of humor’, but when it comes to Marjorie Taylor Greene, she doesn’t seem to find it very funny.

Grok has already given us a chuckle by saying that Musk himself is one of the biggest spreaders of misinformation on the platform, and now, it’s put MTG in its sights.

Rowing with an AI chatbot isn’t some subplot from a Black Mirror episode, as things soon got pretty heated when Greene posted the following on X: “I’m a Christian, an imperfect sinner saved by grace and faith in Jesus. I’m a nationalist, a proud American, who loves my country and wants to make our home nation is the best place for all American citizens and future generations to come.”

The impassioned rant continued: “I’m a mother, thankful for the blessings and responsibility God gave me with my children. I’m a business owner, humbled and grateful to be able to work as hard as humanly possible in the greatest country in the world to be successful, where nothing is given and all is earned. I’m a Representative, elected to serve the greatest people from the greatest district on the greatest country on Earth! May God bless each of you and may God bless America!!!”

Someone took umbrage with this, and running the post through Grok, asked, “@grok is it true? is she really a Christian?”

Grok sniped back, saying that while Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘identifies’ as a Christian, “Her Christian nationalism and support for conspiracy theories, like QAnon, spark debate. Critics, including religious leaders, argue her actions contradict Christian values of love and unity, citing her defense of January 6 and divisive rhetoric.”

Twisting the knife a little further, Grok continued: “Supporters may see her stances as faith-driven. Whether she’s ‘really’ a Christian is subjective, depending on personal and theological views. Her faith appears genuine to her, but public actions create controversy.”

MTG wasted no time in sharing her thoughts on the chatbot’s putdown, adding: “@grok the judgement seat belongs to GOD, not you a non-human AI platform. Grok is left leaning and continues to spread fake news and propaganda. When people give up their own discernment, stop seeking the truth, and depend on AI to analyze information, they will be lost.”

A back and forth ensued, as someone else added: “Hey @grok while @mtgreenee claims to be a Christian, do her public comments and voting record align with Jesus teachings? Yes or no answer.”

With a simple ‘no’, it looks like Grok cooked MTG here.

There was plenty of outrage in the comments, with some accusing Grok of being a Democrat. But as the chatbot reiterated, it was designed to be politically impartial.
