Erika Kirk (née Frantzve) is opening up about her new reality following Charlie Kirk’s death. In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of Erika’s first TV interview since her husband was shot and killed, the grieving widow, 36, is asked by Fox News host Jesse Watters to share the hardest part of her day.
“The nights are the hardest, being in a bed by yourself,” Erika says in the preview of the Wednesday, November 5, episode of Jesse Watters Primetime. “Rolling over trying to [get a] goodnight kiss that’s not there.” On September 10, Charlie was shot and killed during a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, as part of his American Comeback Tour.

During the ceremony, Erika — who shared a daughter, 3, and a son, 17 months, with Charlie — honored her husband of four years with a eulogy. As her grieving process continues, Erika told Watters, 47, that she tried to read a book by C. S. Lewis (presumably titled A Grief Observed) “because he lost the love of his life — he was only married to her for four years.” Charlie and Erika Kirk Courtesy of Charlie Kirk/Instagram “In the opening pages, he talked about how angry he was with God, and I’ve never felt that,” Erika shares. “Never have I questioned, ‘Why, Lord, are you putting me through this?’ I know he uses everything, even what the enemy meant for evil. And I have no regrets.”
Earlier this week, Fox News Channel released more footage from Erika’s emotional interview with Watters. During the candid chat, Erika confirmed that her daughter has questions about what happened to her dad. “My daughter continues to ask, but it’s really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things,” Erika shared. “I said, ‘If ever you want to talk to Daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him — he can hear you.’”

(The suspect has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including aggravated murder.
If convicted, he faces the death penalty.) “I forgive him because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie would do,” she said while delivering a eulogy at Charlie’s public memorial. “The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love.

Erika Kirk Addresses Jimmy Kimmel Controversy in Emotional Jesse Watters Interview
Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has given her first interview since her husband’s assassination, during which she revealed that Sinclair Broadcast Group offered to try to get her an apology from Jimmy Kimmel.
The revelation came in an excerpt of the interview, which is set to air in full on Wednesday’s (November 5) edition of Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime at 8 pm ET. In the clip, Watters asks Erika, “Jimmy Kimmel lied about your husband’s murder and didn’t really apologize… What would you say to Jimmy Kimmel?”
“Same thing I told Sinclair,” she responded. “They asked, I haven’t really told anybody this, so they asked, ‘Do you want Jimmy to give you an apology? Do you want to be on a show? How can we make it right?’”
She continued, “Through our team, I responded, I said, ‘Tell them thank you, we received their note. This is not our issue, not our mess. If you want to say I’m sorry to someone who’s grieving, go right ahead. But if that’s not in your heart, don’t do it. I don’t want it. I don’t need it.’”
On September 17, ABC suspended Kimmel over comments he made about Charlie’s fatal shooting on-air. This came after powerful station group Nexstar announced it would preempt the show on its 32 ABC affiliate stations; Sinclair soon followed.
When Kimmel returned to late-night on September 23, he addressed the situation, saying, “It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it. I posted a message on Instagram on the day he was killed asking compassion for his family, and I meant it. I still do.”
He added, “Nor did I mean to blame any specific group for the actions of a specific individual. That was actually the opposite of the point I was trying to make. For those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation were reversed, there’s a good chance I would’ve felt the same way.
Charlie was shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10, while on his American Comeback Tour. Following his passing, Erika stepped up to lead Turning Point USA, the non-profit organization co-founded by Charlie.
In another clip from the upcoming Fox News interview, Watters asks an emotional Erika if her children “are still asking where’s daddy?”
“Yes, my daughter continues to ask, but it’s really sweet, because I keep explaining to her a few things, and I said if ever you want to talk to daddy, you just look up to the sky and start to talk to him. He can hear you,” she said.
She continued, “And I told her, I said, ‘You know, daddy is in heaven. She goes, ‘Do you think I could go sometime?’ I said, ‘Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.’”
Charlie Kirk’s widow calls for cameras in courtroom at murder trial
Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, says she wishes to see cameras in the courtroom during the murder trial of the man charged with killing her husband at a Turning Point USA rally in Utah earlier this year.
“There were cameras all over my husband when he was murdered,” Kirk told Fox News host Jesse Watters during an exclusive interview set to air in full Wednesday. “There have been cameras all over my friends and family mourning. There have been cameras all over me, analyzing my every move, analyzing my every smile, my every tear.”
She pleaded, “We deserve to have cameras in there.”
Watters had asked Kirk about defense attorneys for Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, requesting cameras be banned from the court proceedings given its high-profile nature.
Videos taken at the scene at Utah Valley University that day show Charlie Kirk being struck in the neck by a single bullet before he was rushed to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors have charged Robinson with aggravated murder and six other counts after he turned himself into police just days after the shooting. Utah is seeking the death penalty in the case.
“Why not be transparent?” said Erika Kirk, who has taken the helm of Turning Point USA. “There’s nothing to hide. I know there’s not, because I’ve seen what the case is built on.
Robinson is due back in court in January. The assassination sparked widespread debate about the temperature of political discourse in America and galvanized many on the right, including President Trump, who have accused liberals of emboldening people to commit acts of political violence.
“Let everyone see what true evil is,” Erika Kirk told Watters. “This is something that could impact a generation and generations to come.”
